DALI note

Device is developed according to DALI Standard EN 62386-101 Ed.2, also known as DALI-2.

To be able to use the device in such installation, an application controller is necessary

Glow wire test

according to EN 61347-2-11 passed for temperatures up to 850°C

Installation

• The device is declared as indoor device, meaning it is intended to be used within a luminaire enclosure or in a flush-mounting box. If the product is used in a different environment, the installation must provide suitable protection for people, device and environment.

• Device must not be connected to the mains. It is supplied directly via the DALI-2 signal line.

• The momentary switches are connected directly to the device (potential free contacts) and must not be connected to the mains.

• DALI-2 signals are not SELV. Therefore the same procedures should be applied as working with mains voltage.

• Only one momentary switch each device output.

• Multiple devices can be used on the same DALI-2 network.

28002877 Wiring type and cross section

For wiring use stranded wire with ferrules or solid wire from 0.2 to 1.5 mm².
Maximum cable length between momentary switch and device is 50 cm.

Connecting wires are supplied inside the package.

Terminals

Orange = DALI D1 and D2
Grey = Push button inputs T1 – T4
Purple = Push button common

Terminal and instance description

Device supports the full push button functionality according to
IEC62386-301. The device has 4 button terminals.
These correspond to the 4 implemented DALI 301 instances:

Miscellaneous

Disposal

According to the WEEE directive return old equipment at appropriate collection facilities

DALI Input Units are interface devices (often compact,, back-box mounted modules) that bridge standard third-party components—like push-buttons, switches, and motion sensors—into a digital DALI lighting system. They convert mechanical switch closures into DALI commands (on/off, dim, scenes). Key benefits include:

Integration: Connects standard switches to intelligent DALI systems.

Power: Typically powered directly from the DALI bus.

Multi-Input: Often supports 4+ inputs per unit.

Installation: Small,, suitable for back-boxes.

Versatility: Ideal for commercial spaces requiring local control.

Functionality: They allow, for instance, a standard wall switch to send messages to the DALI system, enabling it to act as a scene selector or simple dimmer. DALI-2/Compatibility: While some are simple interfaces, modern DALI-2 Input Units are certified and part of the DALI-2 standard, enabling robust, multi-master communication.

Types:

Switch Interfaces: Commonly used for standard, momentary, or rocker switches to control lighting groups or scenes.

Sensor Inputs: Used to bring presence detectors or light sensors into the DALI network.

Power & Installation: They are typically low power (e.g., < 9 mA). Some specialized units, like the PCU Input unit, can also handle, for instance, the power supply for a small number of DALI devices.

Flexibility: They are indispensable for retrofitting standard electrical, non-DALI components into a modern digital, addressable lighting system.
