405 Dimensions

DALI repeaters are devices that extend the length and capacity of a DALI lighting control bus. They amplify the DALI signal to increase the maximum bus length from the standard 300 meters to up to 600 meters.

Repeaters also provide galvanic isolation, which protects one DALI line from the other, and are required for creating a star-type network.

Key functions and features

Extends DALI line length: A single repeater extends the DALI line by another 300 meters, for a total of 600 meters.

Galvanic isolation: They electrically isolate two DALI circuits to protect them from each other. This is useful when setting up multiple independent zones or segments of a DALI system.

Enables star topologies: Repeaters make it possible to create a star-type network, where each repeater is the centre of a sub-circuit connected to the main DALI bus.

Maximum device limit: The total number of DALI devices (addresses) on the entire system is still limited to 64, even with a repeater.

Power requirements: Each repeater requires a separate DALI power supply for the sub-circuit it controls, as it isolates the main and subordinate circuits.

Bidirectional communication: Repeaters work with the bidirectional communication of the DALI protocol, amplifying signals in both directions.

TouchDIM control: Some models offer TouchDIM control, allowing for manual control of DALI devices connected to that repeater.

No cascading: Multiple repeaters cannot be placed in series (cascaded), as the signal delay would prevent proper communication.
