DALI Input Units are interface devices (often compact,, back-box mounted modules) that bridge standard third-party components—like push-buttons, switches, and motion sensors—into a digital DALI lighting system. They convert mechanical switch closures into DALI commands (on/off, dim, scenes). Key benefits include:

Integration: Connects standard switches to intelligent DALI systems.

Power: Typically powered directly from the DALI bus.

Multi-Input: Often supports 4+ inputs per unit.

Installation: Small,, suitable for back-boxes.

Versatility: Ideal for commercial spaces requiring local control.

Functionality: They allow, for instance, a standard wall switch to send messages to the DALI system, enabling it to act as a scene selector or simple dimmer. DALI-2/Compatibility: While some are simple interfaces, modern DALI-2 Input Units are certified and part of the DALI-2 standard, enabling robust, multi-master communication.

Types:

Switch Interfaces: Commonly used for standard, momentary, or rocker switches to control lighting groups or scenes.

Sensor Inputs: Used to bring presence detectors or light sensors into the DALI network.

Power & Installation: They are typically low power (e.g., < 9 mA). Some specialized units, like the PCU Input unit, can also handle, for instance, the power supply for a small number of DALI devices.

Flexibility: They are indispensable for retrofitting standard electrical, non-DALI components into a modern digital,, addressable lighting system.
