ELP B091T – 2 Cell 6.4V 1.8Ah LiFePO4 Emergency Lighting Stick Battery

B091T

SKU:B091T

ELP B091T

The B091T is the next generation of Lithium battery due to new regulations put in place where they would now need to be 3-wired which would allow for thermal regulating.

The B091T comes complete with a two wire adaptor lead, making it compatible with the previous 2 wire B093 and associated 2 wire modules.

If a connector is fitted please check that the plug is correct and that the red + lead is in the correct position. If any terminals are fitted then please check that the sizes of these are correct.

Description

ELP B091T

Part number B091T
Chemistry LiFePO4
Voltage 6.4V
Capacity 1800mAh
Size 136mm x 18mm
Lead length 220mm + 100mm 2 wire adaptor lead

The B091T has been upgraded to a 3-wire version as the latest version of the control gear standard BS EN 61347-2-7 has a section that calls for Lithium batteries in emergency lighting equipment to not start charging if they are too hot or too cold.

To remain backwards compatible, ELP also supply a 2-wire adaptor that will connect to the 3-wire replacement battery, and plug into the + & – terminals, as per the original battery within the fitting.

In the whole battery market, from big energy storage for photovoltaic systems and electric vehicles to small handheld devices, there is a movement from well-known technologies, which were used for decades, to the relatively new lithium based technologies.

The main benefits of lithium based technologies are a very high energy density, and a long lifetime up to twice that of the NiCd or NiMH
batteries.

When using lithium batteries there are some points that have to be considered. There have been reports about possible risks of the lithium technology, which are mostly caused by the chemical reactivity of some lithium technologies.

LiFePO4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) batteries are a type of rechargeable lithium-ion battery known for their excellent safety, long cycle life, thermal stability, and lack of cobalt, making them a popular choice for applications like solar storage, electric vehicles (EVs), RVs, and off-grid systems where longevity and reliability are more important than the highest energy density.

They offer a safer alternative to traditional lithium-ion batteries, charge faster, last significantly longer (thousands of cycles vs. hundreds), and can withstand higher temperatures without degrading, though they are typically heavier and bulkier than cobalt-based alternatives.

Characteristics:

• Suited for high temperature operation (up to 55 °C)
• Design life: 4 years at 55 °C – 8 years at 35 °C

• Storage time: up to 12 months from production date
• Higher energy density than NiCd and NiMH batteries
• Non-critical to the environment – no heavy metal content
