18W T8 fluorescent tubes and 18W PL-L (Compact Fluorescent Long) lamps are common, energy-efficient, linear lighting solutions primarily used in offices, schools, retail spaces, and for general task lighting. 18W T8 Fluorescent Tubes (2ft / 600mm)

These are standard, 26mm diameter tubes commonly referred to as “2ft tubes”.

Dimensions: Approximately 600mm (2 feet) in length.

Base Type: G13 bi-pin.

Performance: Typically emit around 1,150 to 1,350 lumens.

LED Replacements

LED alternatives for both lamp types are available, offering higher energy efficiency (often 50% less power consumption), instant-on, no flicker, and longer lifespans (up to 30,000+ hours).

18W LED T8: These often use around 7.6W to deliver similar or higher light output (1,150+ lumens).

18W LED PL-L: These typically replace 36W CFL lamps and consume significantly less energy (around 18W to 20W).

Installation: Many LED replacements are “plug-and-play” but some require bypassing the existing ballast to connect directly to the mains (direct-to-mains/Type B).

18W T8 and PLL High-Frequency (HF) ballasts are energy-efficient, electronic control gears designed for 2ft (600mm) T8 fluorescent tubes or compact PLL lamps.
