A 0-10V constant voltage LED driver is a power supply that converts mains AC power into a safe, fixed DC voltage (usually 12V or 24V). It features a separate control circuit that adjusts the light’s brightness based on an analog DC voltage signal between 0 and 10 volts.

How it Works

The Power Output: Because it is constant voltage, it outputs a steady, fixed voltage (e.g., exactly 24V) regardless of how many LEDs are connected. It is designed for parallel-wired LED strips and fixtures that have their own built-in current limiters (resistors).

The Control Signal: The dimmer sends a signal along two low-voltage control wires (purple and grey). At 10V, the LEDs run at 100% brightness. As the voltage drops, the light dims, usually shutting off completely or dropping to a very low glow near 0V.

Current Sink vs. Source: Most modern drivers are “current sink,” meaning the driver supplies a small current and the dimmer limits it. However, there are active “current source” dimmers available.
