The LDI3/18 is a small and very discreet LED light pod with an injection moulded thermally conductive plastic body acting as a very effective heat sink and incorporating an 18mm thread and lock nut for simple installation. (NB: Requires 18.5mm clearance hole with access to the rear). The LDI3/18 light pods (white or black front bezel) offer two distribution types.

For emergency lighting applications the LDI3/18 light pods incorporate an integral green/red bi-colour indicator suitable for standard emergency or Self-Test/DALI emergency.

Standalone ceiling recessed emergency lights are self-contained, unobtrusive safety lighting fixtures that blend into ceilings to provide illumination during power failures. They are designed for quick installation in commercial or residential settings, usually featuring a small LED downlight head and a hidden battery pack within the ceiling void, offering at least 3 hours of illumination.

Self-Contained Power: These units operate independently, with their own built-in rechargeable battery and charger, removing the need for a central battery system.
Operation Modes:

Non-Maintained: The light only turns on when the main power fails (common for escape routes).

Maintained: The light stays on constantly (using mains power) and switches to the battery during a power failure, often used in public areas.

Discreet Design: Typically featuring a small, white, or black circular bezel (often 40mm to 50mm diameter), they sit flush with the ceiling for a minimal aesthetic.

Lighting Optic Options: Available with different lenses, including corridor (for long, narrow paths) and open area (for wide-angle illumination).

Technical Specifications

Battery & Runtime: Usually feature LiFePO4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) batteries providing 3 hours of emergency power.

Light Output: Ranges typically from 100 to 300 lumens.

Colour Temperature: Commonly 6000K – 6500K (Daylight White) for maximum visibility.

Lifespan: High-performance LEDs with 30,000 to 50,000+ hours.

Testing: Many models now include “Self-Test” functionality (DALI or automatic), which simulates power failures to test the battery and LED health, indicating faults via a built-in LED indicator.

Installation and Compliance

Installation: Designed as “plug-and-play” with quick-fit connectors, passing through a small cutout in the ceiling.

Components: A typical kit includes the LED head, a driver, and a battery pack that fits into the ceiling void.

Compliance: Units are generally CE and UKCA marked, meeting BS EN 60598-1 and BS EN 60598-2-22 standards.

IP Rating: Commonly IP20 (indoor), with some options for higher IP65 ratings for bathrooms or damp areas.
