Discharge lamps produce light by passing an electric current through an ionized gas or metal vapor, and are known for their high-intensity, energy efficiency, and long life. High-pressure sodium ( HPS) lamps:

Produce a characteristic golden-orange light. They are highly efficient and used for street and area lighting where good colour rendering isn’t critical.

Metal Halide ( MH ) lamps:

Produce a bright, white light with good colour rendering. They are used for a wide range of applications, including sports arenas, factories, and retail spaces.
