How They Work

Automatic Switchover: If the mains power fails, the module instantly detects the drop and switches the fluorescent tube from the main ballast to its internal inverter and battery.

Reduced Output: Emergency mode does not run the lamp at full brightness. Instead, it operates at a reduced light output (typically 10–30%) to conserve energy and meet essential escape route lighting regulations.

Battery Charging: When mains power is restored, the module’s integrated charger begins recharging the high-temperature batteries (typically NiCd or NiMH) to ensure they are ready for the next outage.

Operating Modes

Maintained: The fluorescent light stays on continuously (using mains power), and switches to battery power during a blackout.

Non-Maintained: The fluorescent light remains off during normal conditions, but automatically turns on using battery power when the mains supply fails.
