Other Information for the 9006525
- Mackwell batteries have been specifically selected to work with Mackwell emergency products. If a battery pack is used that has not been supplied by Mackwell, always ensure that it is correctly rated for the application.
- It is important not to cycle the batteries too many times during use and to avoid excessive switching of the mains supply, particularly during the installation process, which can lead to a reduction in the life of the battery. For this reason, Mackwell recommend disconnecting the battery until the installation is ready.

LiFePO4 4.5Ah 3 Cell Battery
Equipment that uses this battery:
In the whole battery market, from big energy storage for photovoltaic systems and electric vehicles to small handheld devices, there is a
movement from well-known technologies, which were used for decades, to the relatively new lithium based technologies.
The main benefits of lithium based technologies are a very high energy density, and a long lifetime up to twice that of the NiCd or NiMH
batteries.
When using lithium batteries there are some points that have to be considered. There have been reports about possible risks of the lithium technology, which are mostly caused by the chemical reactivity of some lithium technologies.
To ensure safety in operation, Tridonic have been testing several lithium batteries of different chemical compositions since 2013, with regard to performance over lifetime and possible safety issues in terms of high temperature, flames and mechanical damage.
The 18650 and 26650 LiFePO4 cells which are used in the Tridonic batteries stood out due to its good performance and safety in all of
the performed tests. These batteries were introduced into the product range of Tridonic’s emergency LED driver portfolio.
Safe and reliable operation with LiFeGuard
Three layers of safety features adresses the cell, battery pack and emergency driver known as LifeGuard.
• Protection against abnormal operating conditions
• Battery pack with integrated temperature sensor enables constant temperature monitoring
• Intelligent charge level dependant battery charging
Characteristics:
• Suited for high temperature operation (up to 55 °C)
• Design life: 4 years at 55 °C – 8 years at 35 °C
• Storage time: up to 12 months from production date
• Higher energy density than NiCd and NiMH batteries
• Non-critical to the environment – no heavy metal content
Activating LiFePO4 batteries
When using rechargeable LiFePO4 batteries for emergency lighting following point are essential in order to achieve the specified design life time of the batteries:
In order to activate new batteries, 2-3 full charging-discharging are needed to make sure batteries achieve their rated capacity. This activating process is defined by running 2-3 full charging (24 hrs) and discharging (1/2/3 hrs) cycles of the batteries. If the first duration test fails, please repeat the test once again after a 24 hour charging period.
With a background firmly grounded in electronics, Mackwell has developed a wealth of experience in lighting throughout the World and an enviable reputation for the design and manufacture of reliable, innovative electronic components. This enables the company to provide customers with innovative solutions that give them a competitive edge in their target markets.
Mackwell embraced LED technology and DALI early in their inception which has allowed the company to continually evolve with the latest developments and bring state-of-the-art solutions to market.
Mackwell has also kept abreast of the reduction in size of luminaires as LED’s become more popular, supplying products to meet the need for fitting into more compact proportions.
Operating from our purpose designed R&D and manufacturing facility in the heart of England, Mackwell’s philosophy of never leaving safety to chance has led to the design of a portfolio of high quality, durable emergency products for a wide range of applications.
