DALI PCU TW G2

DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) dimmer switches are intelligent, two-way communication controllers for lighting, enabling precise, individual, or group control of luminaires. Unlike traditional dimmers, they use a dedicated low-voltage 2-core control cable to adjust brightness, scenes, or color temperature, often down to 0.1%.

Key Features of DALI Dimmer Switches

System Integration: Designed for professional, energy-efficient, and flexible lighting projects, such as offices and commercial buildings.

Precise Control: Support for logarithmic dimming curves ensures smooth transitions.

Types: Available as rotary knobs, push-button interfaces (DALI-2), and, in some cases, with wireless capabilities (e.g., Shelly DALI Gen3).

Functionality: Often offer “dim-to-dark” capabilities (down to 0.1%), scene management, and group addressing.

Easy Installation: Can be mounted in standard wall junction boxes.

DALI vs. Traditional Dimming

Communication: DALI is digital and allows feedback on status (e.g., fault reporting), whereas traditional systems are generally analog/dumb.

Wiring: Requires an extra 2-core cable for data (not polarity-sensitive), separating the control signal from the main power.

Cost: Higher initial, setup costs due to specialized equipment.

DALI Components

DALI Masters: Generate control signals, often used with push-buttons to control groups of lights.

DALI Drivers/Ballasts: Receive signals to adjust LED intensity or color.

OSRAM Licht AG is a German company that makes electric lights, headquartered in Munich and Premstätten (Austria). OSRAM positions itself as a high-tech photonics company that is increasingly focusing on sensor technology, visualization and treatment by light.[3] The company serves customers in the consumer, automotive, healthcare and industrial technology sectors.[4] The operating company of OSRAM is OSRAM GmbH.

Osram was founded in 1919 by the merger of the lighting businesses of Auergesellschaft, Siemens & Halske and Allgemeine Elektrizitäts-Gesellschaft (AEG). Osram was a wholly owned subsidiary of Siemens AG from 1978 to 2013. On 5 July 2013, Osram was spun off from Siemens, and the listing of its stock began on Frankfurt Stock Exchange on 8 July 2013.[5] Osram’s business with conventional light sources was spun off in 2016 under the name Ledvance and sold to a Chinese consortium.[6]

After a bidding war[7] with Bain Capital, Osram was taken over by Austrian company AMS in July 2020.[8][9][10] Since then, the company has operated under the name AMS Osram.[11]

The name is derived from osmium and Wolfram, German for tungsten. Both elements were commonly used for lighting filaments at the time the company was founded.

In 2020 ams AG acquired the German lighting, LED, and opto-semiconductor manufacturer OSRAM. Since then, the company operates under the name ams OSRAM.

The ams OSRAM portfolio includes light emitters, sensors and CMOS ICs with embedded software solutions as well as lighting systems and specialty lamps for automotive, industrial and entertainment applications. The company mainly address the automotive, industrial and medical markets, as well as selected fields of consumer electronics.
