2. This product is non-waterproof. Please avoid the sun and rain. When installed outdoors please ensure it is mounted in a water proof enclosure.
3. Good heat dissipation will prolong the working life of the controller. Please ensure good ventilation.
4. Please check if the output voltage and current of any LED power supplies used comply with the requirement of the product.
5. Please ensure that adequate sized cable is used from the controller to the LED lights to carry the current. Please also ensure that the cable is secured tightly in the connector.
6. Ensure all wire connections and polarities are correct before applying power to avoid any damages to the LED lights.
7. If a fault occurs please return the product to your supplier. Do not attempt to fix this product by yourself.
Constant voltage TRIAC LED drivers convert standard mains AC voltage into a stable low-voltage DC output (usually 12V or 24V). They are specially designed to pair with traditional wall-mounted TRIAC dimmer switches, allowing you to dim LED strip lights and tape without needing extra low-voltage control wires.
How They Work
Constant Voltage: They maintain a steady output voltage regardless of the electrical load. As you add more LEDs, the driver supplies more current to maintain that voltage.
TRIAC Dimming: TRIAC (Triode for Alternating Current) dimmers work by “chopping” the AC mains waveform. These drivers interpret this chopped waveform and translate it into a dimmed DC output, providing smooth, flicker-free brightness control from 0% to 100%.
Key Specifications to Consider
Voltage Rating: Must match your LEDs. This is almost exclusively 12V DC or 24V DC for LED tape and strip lights.
Wattage and Headroom: Your driver’s total wattage must exceed your lighting load. Always calculate the total wattage of your LED strips, and add a 10% to 20% safety margin/headroom for the driver. Overloading causes failure, while severe underloading can cause flickering.
Dimmer Compatibility: TRIAC dimmers can be either Leading Edge (forward phase) or Trailing Edge (reverse phase). Make sure your driver is rated to work with your specific dimmer type. Many modern LED drivers support both.
IP Rating: If you are installing the driver in a bathroom or outdoors, you need a weatherproof or waterproof unit (usually IP65 or IP66). Indoor, dry installations typically use IP20 units.
