Fluorescent emergency modules are critical lighting components that convert standard, mains-powered fluorescent fixtures into emergency lights by providing a, typically, 3-hour battery backup during power failures. They consist of an inverter, charger, and high-temperature battery, allowing for either “maintained” (on/off) or “non-maintained” (only on during failures) operation.
Key Aspects of Fluorescent Emergency Modules:
Functionality: Upon mains failure, the module switches the lamp to battery power, providing DC power to the lamp.
Compatibility: They work with various T5, T8, and T12 linear fluorescent tubes, as well as 4-pin compact lamps (10W-70W).
Safety Compliance: These modules generally adhere to standards like EN61347 and EN60925.
Battery Type: They often use Nickel-Cadmium (NiCd) batteries, such as 4.8V 4AH sticks.
Components: The units include an inverter to convert DC to AC for the lamp, and a charger to keep the battery ready.
Installation: Designed for internal mounting within modern 220-240V luminaires.
