Iwasaki (EYE Iwasaki) and Cold Cathode lamps represent distinctly different lighting technologies. Iwasaki focuses primarily on High-Intensity Discharge (HID), halogen, and industrial LED lighting, while cold cathode technology is generally used for niche scientific, indicator, and specialized display applications.

1. Iwasaki (EYE) Lamps

Iwasaki Electric is a major Japanese manufacturer renowned for high-performance commercial, sports, and industrial lighting.

Key Technologies: They produce metal halide, ceramic metal halide (EYE Cera Arc), high-pressure sodium, and halogen lamps.

Applications: Primarily used in sports stadiums, warehouses, street lighting, and specialized aquaculture/aquarium setups.

Market Update: Due to environmental and regulatory phase-outs, Iwasaki discontinued the production of traditional HID mercury lamps for general lighting and has significantly transitioned into high-efficiency, LED retrofit ranges.

2. Cold Cathode Lamps

Unlike standard hot-cathode fluorescent lamps, cold cathode lamps do not require a heated filament to emit electrons, resulting in a much longer lifespan and durability.

Neon & Signage: The most common form of cold cathode is the neon lamp and neon tubing, which use low-pressure inert gas to emit light.

Analytical/Scientific (Hollow-Cathode Lamps): A critical scientific application is the Hollow-Cathode Lamp (HCL). These are highly specialized spectral line sources used in physics and analytical chemistry equipment, most notably Atomic Absorption Spectrometers (AAS).

Venture Lighting acquired the Parmar brand and offers a wide range of lighting control gear, such as ballasts and ignitors, for various applications, including specialist uses like road and tunnel lighting. Parmar was originally a manufacturing company formed by Mr. Parry and Mr. Martin, and the “Venture Parmar” range is known for its quality and performance in both electromagnetic and electronic HID control gear

Relationship between Venture Parmar

The acquisition of the Parmar brand by Venture Lighting in the late 1990s allowed Venture to build an extensive range of HID control gear.

The “Venture Parmar” name is now used to denote the combination of both companies’ control gear products.
