Our range of remote lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries with various voltages and capacities. All remote batteries are supplied in a poly-carbonate casing with plugs and leads for simple connection.

We have carried out accelerated lifetime tests on our LiFePO4 batteries and have the data to show that the operational life of these cells is double the operational life of traditional emergency lighting batteries. In addition to this, the extremely low self discharge of this chemistry dramatically reduces the power consumption under use.

For example, NiCd batteries had a power consumption of 5W, where equivalent LiFePO4 batteries have an average power consumption of 1.2W. Lithium iron phosphate batteries have become the mainstay of emergency lighting in recent years, especially in light of the upcoming ban on nickel cadmium batteries for emergency lighting.

From the 25th of June 2025, all our batteries will feature temperature monitoring. In keeping with the latest update to BS EN 61347-2-7 Their associated modules will now stop charging the cells if their case temperature falls below 0°C or rises above 55°C.

The emergency packs will continue to operate where required, providing their is enough capacity remaining in the battery. Our lithium iron phosphate cells feature a low self-discharge of 5% per month.

In the whole battery market, from big energy storage for photovoltaic systems and electric vehicles to small handheld devices, there is a movement from well-known technologies, which were used for decades, to the relatively new lithium based technologies.

The main benefits of lithium based technologies are a very high energy density, and a long lifetime up to twice that of the NiCd or NiMH
batteries.

When using lithium batteries there are some points that have to be considered. There have been reports about possible risks of the lithium technology, which are mostly caused by the chemical reactivity of some lithium technologies.

LiFePO4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) batteries are a type of rechargeable lithium-ion battery known for their excellent safety, long cycle life, thermal stability, and lack of cobalt, making them a popular choice for applications like solar storage, electric vehicles (EVs), RVs, and off-grid systems where longevity and reliability are more important than the highest energy density.

They offer a safer alternative to traditional lithium-ion batteries, charge faster, last significantly longer (thousands of cycles vs. hundreds), and can withstand higher temperatures without degrading, though they are typically heavier and bulkier than cobalt-based alternatives.
