Mackwell LED Drivers utilise quasi-resonant technology, which ensures higher efficiency levels are maintained across a wider voltage range. The switchable models provide the added flexibility to switch between different currents during the installation stage.
All drivers are UK designed and manufactured, incorporating premium grade components as standard. The use of these components ensures all drivers maintain a high power factor and
low operating temperatures. All drivers are housed in a robust white plastic case and includes 1-7mm cable clamping as standard

Constant current (CC) LED drivers provide a fixed amount of current while allowing the output voltage to fluctuate to maintain it. They are essential for powering LEDs efficiently and reliably, protecting them from damage caused by voltage spikes and variations. These drivers are ideal for applications with multiple LEDs wired in series and are available with features like dimming capabilities.
How they work
Adjusts voltage: A CC driver continuously monitors the current flowing through the LED circuit. It automatically adjusts the output voltage up or down to keep the current at the specified, constant level, ensuring the LEDs don’t receive too much or too little power.
Uses a feedback loop: The driver uses a feedback loop to achieve this constant current output. If the load (resistance) in the circuit changes, the driver instantly compensates by changing the voltage to maintain the set current.
Protects LEDs: This stabilization prevents overcurrent, which can cause LEDs to overheat and fail prematurely.
Key features
Fixed current, variable voltage: The primary function is to supply a constant current, while the output voltage will vary depending on the number of LEDs in the series circuit.
Series connections: They are typically used for LEDs connected in series, as this configuration requires a constant current to operate correctly.
Dimming: Many models support dimming, which allows for smooth brightness control without compromising performance. Dimming methods can include 1-10V, DALI, and Triac.
Protection: Good quality drivers include features like protection against short circuits and over-temperature conditions
